Noisy neighbors to pay between NIS 350-1,800 for lighting firecrackers, operating loud gardening tools.

The Knesset Law Committee passed on Wednesday an addition to the criminal procedure order designating fines ranging from NIS 350- NIS 1,800 for violations of the Abatement of Nuisances Law, having to do with noise in residential areas.

According to the new regulations, lighting firecrackers in a residential neighborhood or operating a sound car alarm will cost individual transgressors NIS 350 and organizations NIS 700.

Setting off fire works, installing a car alarm, operating loud gardening tools, between 2 and 4 p.m. or after 7 p.m., or operating a leaf blower at any time of the day, will produce a fine of NIS 450 for individuals and NIS 900 for organizations.

All the fines will be doubled upon a second transgression.

Other actions that are forbidden under the new regulations are construction or renovation works between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. as well as playing loud music or operating public announcement systems after 11 p.m.

Operating an emergency siren without cause is also forbidden by the ordinances.

The regulations regarding fireworks provide exemptions for special occasions such as Independence Day, Jerusalem Day and Purim.

By 2017, all sound car alarms have to be removed or disabled.
