BEIRUT: Hezbollah MP Mohammad Raad has said that the government is standing up to Israel’s theft of Lebanon’s natural resources, and will use any means to combat Israeli aggression.

“The resistance is ready to defend Lebanon’s sovereignty, including our waters, and the Israeli enemy won’t be able to drill one meter for oil or gas — because no company would explore in disputed waters,” he said, as reported by the National News Agency Sunday.

The government will make diplomatic efforts with the U.N. to protect its oil and gas, Raad said during a religious ceremony in Rmadiyyeh, south Lebanon, according to the NNA.

He added that international powers were working to enhance Israel’s power in the region.

“The resistance is being targeted through misinformation and rumors to distort the [party’s] image and create internal problems… [by those who] who support and sponsor Israeli terrorism…”

Raad also denied that Hezbollah was working to take control of the government, saying Mikati’s Cabinet was doing well.
