The stream-lined valleys of Oman have supplied a vital water source to generations of families.

Now, however, the government wants thousands of residents of villages near Wadi Dayqah, a massive watershed with a year-round stream, to leave their homes because of the threat of flooding.

Al Jazeera’s Andrew Hopkins reports from the Omani town of Hail Al Ghaf.
