AMMAN — The Business Development Centre (BDC), in cooperation with the  German-Jordanian University, has launched the Green National Network which aims to develop local institutions in the field of green entrepreneurship.

The programme is part of the Green Entrepreneurship Project in Jordan, implemented in partnership with SwitchMed, funded by the European Union of Mediterranean Countries, according to a BDC statement.

The Green National Network supports green entrepreneurship by transferring the best methods of analysis and development to a sustainable methodology that is available to all entrepreneurs on an electronic platform.

The programme establishes a network that includes all stakeholders in the field of green economy to support environmental entrepreneurs and provide a space for communication between stakeholders, under the supervision and with the support of the Ministry of Environment.

EU Ambassador to Jordan Maria Hadjitheodosiou emphasised the role that universities must play in “incubating the projects and ideas” of students, particularly so young entrepreneurs can develop their skills, further voicing her hope that the private sector would take initiative in supporting student innovators.

BDC General Manager Ghaleb Hijazi said the “Green National Network” will establish “a space and an inclusive platform” that includes all green economy stakeholders.
