49 water theft cases detected near Kafrain Dam — PSD

AMMAN — During a comprehensive security campaign carried out in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), the Ministry of Water and Irrigation on Tuesday announced that 49 cases of water theft were identified close to the Kafrain Dam.

Massive amounts of water, exceeding 500 cubic metres per hour, was drawn and sold to hotels and farms in violation of existing regulations.

The Water Authority on Wednesday reported that two additional illegal wells were found in Maan Governorate, and cases of unauthorised tampering with main water lines were discovered in Karak’s Al Qaser region. All wells were sealed, anthe necessary measures were taken to address the situation, according to a Water Ministry statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Police detect 4 water thefts at Wadi Al Seer Water spring

AMMAN — The Water Ministry, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), on Tuesday said that it detected and removed four illegal water theft mechanisms on the Wadi Al Seer water spring, which is considered a main source of drinking water, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

In a statement to The Jordan Times, the ministry said that illegal pumps to fill water tankers were removed, stressing efforts to prevent water theft across the Kingdom.

Three water thefts detected in Madaba — PSD

AMMAN — The Water Ministry, during a campaign implemented in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), on Saturday detected three water thefts from main pipelines for drinking water in Madaba in which water was illegally diverted to farms and agricultural ponds and to fill tankers.

The ministry said that the illegal fixtures were removed and investigations into the incidents have been launched, stressing ongoing efforts to prevent water theft across the Kingdom.
