On April 12, under the patronage of HRH Prince Hassan Bin Talal, a GRAND OPENING ceremony was held for the Sharhabil Bin Hassneh EcoPark in Jordan.

More than six years ago, FoEME began with the development of 100 dunams for an EcoPark, fencing off the area to regulate overgrazing that had contributed to the degredation of the area’s rich natural landscape, in an effort to return some of the natural vegetation, protect the wildlife, and create a community open space.

Today, the EcoPark includes several thousand dunams and has seen an incredible return of biodiversity to the area. (See the park’s plant guide book for some examples)

Attending the event were local and national politicians, as well as international figures, together with many local residents who are daily enjoying the new green open space area in their neighborhood.
