BEIRUT: The country’s leading supplier of cement, Holcim, says it has reduced its emissions significantly over the past three years, organization officials announced Monday. Dust emissions from their concrete plants’ dust stacks were reduced by 82 percent, other dust emissions were reduced by 22 percent and overall carbon dioxide emissions per ton of cement were reduced by 5 percent, according to the organizations latest environmental report. The company’s officials said environmental sustainability is a priority of the organization and the report measuring emissions is one of a kind in the country. Holcim is currently providing free incineration services to dispose of the country’s large quantities of expired food and drugs.
