AMMAN — Natural Resources Authority (NRA) Director General Mousa Zyoud on Tuesday said the authority, along with the Trans Euro Energy Corp., was reviewing the draft of an agreement on oil excavation in Azraq’s Hamzah oilfield, near the Saudi border some 100km southeast of the capital.
Zyoud added that he expected the agreement to be signed within the next two weeks, after which it will be referred to the Cabinet, then the Legislation and Opinion Bureau and finally forwarded to Parliament for endorsement.
The agreement outlines the conditions for carrying out excavations in the field, which currently produces 25 barrels of oil per day out of the Kingdom’s daily needs of an estimated 100,000 barrels.
