AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan on Monday called for concerted regional efforts to address pollution in the Arab world amidst an expected 30 per cent population growth, warning of a “demographic bomb” if no measures are taken soon.
Speaking at the opening of the two-day German-Arab Environment Forum, the prince, who is president of the Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST), said Arab expertise must be utilised to implement water and energy projects.
The forum is organised by the Euro-Mediterranean Association for Cooperation and Development, the HCST and the Amman Chamber of Commerce.
