November 13-14, 2013, Sharon Hotel, Herzliya, Israel
(Live Video Link with Hague, Netherlands)
EcoPeace / Friends of the Earth Middle East (FoEME) is pleased to invite you to attend a unique gathering of Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian political leadership, municipal representatives, water experts, local residents and civil society representatives associated with the “Good Water Neighbors” (GWN) project. Launched on 2001, the “Good Water Neighbors” project utilizes mutual dependence on shared water resources as a basis for developing dialogue and cooperation on fair and sustainable water management. It presently involves 25 cross border communities, all partnered in their efforts to promote environmental awareness, cross border water solutions and peace building.
Against the background of the renewed Israeli / Palestinian peace talks, the conference is designed to highlight the urgency and opportunities for all sides of addressing the unresolved cross-border water and sanitation issues. Conference panels will give stage to high officials from Israel, the PA and Jordan as well as representatives of the international community. Of note is a live video link up between the GWN conference in Tel Aviv and The Hague Institute for Global Justice conference also being held on the occasion of the UN International Year of Water Cooperation in The Hague, Netherlands.
“Priority Projects”: FoEME will update on advances made on last year’s selection of concrete cross border projects called ‘priority projects’ and following community level participation release a new publication that details a new set of target water and sanitation priority projects.
Participation is by invitation only and requires pre-registration at this on-line link. Pre- registration must be completed by 5pm, October 27th, 2013, however, space is limited and therefore we suggest that you register as soon as possible.
