AMMAN — The capital is scheduled to host the “Jordan International Energy Summit and Exhibition” next month to discuss challenges and opportunities related to the country’s energy needs, organisers said Monday.

The summit provides an official platform for local firms to become acquainted with relevant international companies, and to highlight current and future energy projects in the Kingdom, according to a statement released by organisers.

More than 500 local and foreign senior executives and officials are expected to attend the May 19-20, event, the statement said.

The conference will also cover future ideas and visions in the sector through holding meetings with international companies to discuss major energy plans in Jordan.

The event seeks to highlight Jordan as a stable, developed and investor-friendly country, and focus on the phases many energy and mining projects have achieved.

Main supporting and participating companies include Shell, Rosatom Overseas, Schneider Electric, Wärtsilä, Enefit and Solstice, according to the statement.
