AMMAN — A new water and sewage network has been installed at the Jerash camp for Palestinian refugees, funded by the Swiss government, the Swiss embassy in Amman said in a statement released this week.
“We are all proud today to have contributed to the enhanced dignity of the inhabitants of Jerash, who can now live in a cleaner and healthier environment,” Swiss Ambassador to Jordan Hans-Peter Lenz said at an inauguration ceremony for the network, according to the statement.
Prior to the installation of the new system, the supply was dysfunctional and prone to frequent contamination, the Swiss embassy said.
The Department for Palestinian Affairs, the Water Authority of Jordan and the Yarmouk Water Company cooperated to install the new system which services nearly 3,000 homes and about 26,000 residents, the statement added.
