AMMAN — Ten thousand solar water heaters were installed under a programme for homes implemented by the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund in various governorates.

The Executive Director of the Fund Rasmi Hamzeh on Monday said that the fund seeks to raise the number of households benefiting from the programme from 14 per cent to 25 per cent by 2020 nationwide.

To increase the number of solar heaters, he added that the fund plans to provide 50 per cent of the heater’s price in the form of a loan to the beneficiary and a discount of around JD175 compared to market prices, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

He described the solar heater programme, which launched three years ago, as “one of the most important” energy conservation programmes implemented by the fund.
