Thousands of young people participated on Saturday in the “Share and Clean” initiative, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to help clean up Egypt’s streets and take care of the environment.

The initiative comes as part of government plans to motivate young people to participate in tackling issues facing society, investing their energies positively and supporting the values of volunteering.

Several governors also participated in the cleaning work on Saturday.

In Qalyubia, Governor Alaa Abdel Halim participated in the initiative along with large numbers youth, as well as executive and local leaderships. The governor inspected the work of young people who participated in drawing, painting and cleaning to beautify the streets of Banha, the capital of the governorate.

In Beni Suef, 500 young people participated in the campaign in cooperation with the municipality, under the patronage of Governor Hany Abdul Gaber, which included many young members from volunteer clubs.

In Menoufia, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the governorate Sawsan Tayel said that 500 young people also participated in the initiative at Tala city, cleaning and developing the governorate’s roads and streets, alongside painting the walls and sidewalks.

They also planted trees in cooperation with the municipality officials.

Port Said Governor Adel al-Gadban oversaw the activities of the campaign, which saw the participation 500 young men and women between the ages of 18 years to 35 years. The Youth and Sports Directorate in Port Said distributed rewards to the participants.

Sharqia Governor Mamdouh Ghorab said that the campaign aims at educating young people about the importance of community participation and preserving the environment around them.
