Dr. David Lehrer is Director of International Development at the Arava Institute and served as Executive Director from 2001–2021. He holds a doctorate in geography and environmental development from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and has been a member of Kibbutz Ketura since 1981. In addition to his work on the Institute’s applied environmental diplomacy, Dr. Lehrer’s research includes studies on the effectiveness of environmental management systems, sustainable development in the Dead Sea Basin, and the cost of nature conservation in Israel.
