The higher steering committee for the green economy, headed by Environment Minister Yaseen Khayyat, on Wednesday endorsed the national plan for green growth.
Khayyat said the plan, designed by the Global Green Growth Institute in cooperation with stakeholders from public and private sectors, will help Jordan face economic and environmental challenges, as well as institutionalise endeavours towards a green economy, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The national plan aims at encouraging the public and private sectors to utilise natural resources efficiently to serve the economy. Ahmad Omrah, head of the plan and representative of the institute, expressed the institute’s commitment to continuing cooperation with the government to implement the plan’s recommendations.
