Overnight on Tuesday, storm Daniel, which has caused turbulent weather in the eastern Mediterranean, reached Israel bringing some rain. Israel’s infrastructure, however, couldn’t handle the rain.
In Israel, the small amount of rain caused issues on several Israeli roads as potholes opened up in Herzliya and Holon. Police are on the scene in both cities to direct traffic.
The storm was already in a weakened form by the time it arrived on Israel’s shores, with cities across the country experiencing some rain, but nowhere close to the amount it created in Greece, Libya or Egypt. In Libya, catastrophic flooding as a result of the storm killed at least 5,000, with some 10,000 estimated to be missing.
At the same time, a wildfire is burning to the north of Lake Kinneret in northern Israel, where planes and eight firefighting teams have been working to put out the blaze since Tuesday night.
