AMMAN — The Ministry of Municipal Affairs will hold accountable municipalities and joint service councils that failed to perform their duties during last week’s blizzard.

Minister Mahir Abul Samin said this would be done in accordance with reports from governors and other specialised committees that monitored municipalities’ work.

Meanwhile, the Cities and Villages Development Bank decided to compensate municipalities for expenses incurred during the weather conditions.

According to the ministry, more than 150 machines, of which 50 were rented, were used to open roads.

Also, around 1,500 municipal workers have worked as part of emergency teams since the beginning of the depression.
