BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) — A Palestinian engineer has won the Energy Globe Award, which is issued annually by the Energy Globe Foundation.
Tamer Alslaibi project aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of a new technique in which microwaved olive stone activated carbon is used compared to the conventional thermal process, the organization’s website said.
It added that Alslaib holds a Ph.D in civil engineering and water resources engineering and is the director of the Palestinian Environmental Quality Authority.
He “wanted to develop a cost effective and environmentally friendly method to fight water contamination. This issue is very important for him as the consumption of contaminated water causes serious problems for the human health and also leads to environmental degradation,” the organization reported.
It was the project was in cooperation with the Universiti Sains Malaysia and the Islamic University of Gaza.
