THE 5 R GO TO SCHOOL
Wednesday, January 14, 2015

The youth of today will be the main consumers of goods of the future. It is, therefore, crucial to guide the new generation towards a “conscious consumption”, to train them in the Reduce, Reuse, Rethink, Recycle of waste and Recovery of energy.

The improper waste management is one of the most concerning environmental issues of our days, for this reason one of the most significant LANDCARE MED activities consists of seminars dedicated to young people, citizens and farmers in order to enhance their awareness of the importance of waste sorting and recycling.

Selected schools in Sardinia, South Lebanon and the Béja region in Tunisia are the main location of the diffusion and dissemination of Best Practices for young people in the field of the waste management. A pixie called Landcare Pan is the special teacher of the seminars in Sardinia. The courses have already started in Tunisia, were launched in Sardinia, and precisely in Decimoputzu, on the 13th of January and will start soon also in Lebanon.

The main topics covered by the seminars are: the classification and correct identification of the different types of refuse; the concepts of reduction, reuse, recycling of waste and the awareness of its own lifecycle. The seminars will be structured around two parts: a theoretical one and a practical on the basis of a ‘learning by doing’ technique.
