AMMAN — The Environment Ministry, in partnership with the Royal Department for Environment Protection (Rangers) civil society organisations and volunteers, has collected 30 tonnes of accumulated waste, Minister of Environment and Acting Minister of Agriculture Saleh Kharabsheh said in a statement.

The waste was collected from roadsides, parks, forests and public places across the Kingdom, the statement added.

“The ministry has established an integrated plan within the context of the national plan for environmental awareness,” Kharabsheh said on Sunday.

The ministry’s national plan for raising environmental awareness involves the launch of a number of sanitation campaigns with the aim of delivering “significant outreach messages” that reinforce the concept of environmental conservation and encouraging ecologically responsible behaviour.

The minister said that the plan’s initial phase would be implemented next year, noting that the campaign follows public safety measures stipulated in the defence orders.
